Matthew 11:28-29 Why do we suffer? Many times the cause of our suffering remains unknown. Even after carefully searching the Scriptures, we may not discover the specific reason for our suffering. Or we may discover the source of our pain but not understand why God allows it. Our prayer is that your search for answers to the question why and your desire to find meaning in the midst of suffering lead you to God himself. It is far more important to know him than to draw the "right" conclusions about human suffering. Answers are for the head, but only God's love can heal a wounded heart. Our hope for you is that although the why of suffering may remain elusive, the goodness and love of God, in Jesus Christ, will prevail: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Excerpted from a devotional in "The Encouragement Bible," pg 1301.
