Deuteronomy 6:4-9

"How do you know so many scriptures?" the troubled woman asked Penny. Out of Penny's purse came a palm sized, ornately stitched handmade bag. She loosened the drawstring and a large collection of well worn, tattered index cards fell onto the table. Each one contained a scripture that meant something to her or contained a promise she was praying for either for herself, a loved one or a friend. "When I find myself waiting somewhere or I'm feeling down, confused or just out-of-sorts, I pull out my bag and read, meditate or pray over these verses."

Penny's life and the ministry that flows out of it reflect her devotion to the Word.

Like a compass, the Word of God aligns us with true north. It sets our mind and heart straight again, putting life and whatever is troubling us back in perspective. Just as we would never think of robbing our body of a continual supply of food and water, we should never consider robbing our spirit of it's nourishment, the Word of God.
